How to Add Sound to a Google Presentation

Part 1

Secret #1 - The Link

The simplest way to add audio to a Google Presentation is to add a hyperlink on the title slide of your presentation that opens a Youtube video in a new tab or window. This solution is best for having background music during your entire presentation.

  • Find the Youtube video with the music track you want to use (Soundcloud or Grooveshark may also work)
  • Copy the URL (the web address link)
  • Paste the link in a text field on the Title slide

Part 2

Secret #2 - The Video

Add a Youtube video directly to any slide to have audio play during that slide. Warning: The audio will stop playing as soon as you advance to the next slide
  • Click on the Insert Tab
  • Select Video
  • Browse for the Video you want or past the URL to a Youtube Video
  • Resize the video

Secret #3 - The Video Sound Effect

Just for fun, you can insert a Youtube video that has a sound effect like a car horn or doorbell by searching for these in the Video search pane.

Secret #4 - Youtube’s Start At Feature

If you want to skip the beginning of a Youtube video and start at an exact part of a song.
  • Go to Youtube and find the audio or song you want
  • Click on the Share Tab below the video
  • Look for the “Start at” option and type the time of the video when you want it to begin playing
  • Copy the new link provided and use the steps above.
